July Fishing Report: Striper Bite Starting to Happen!

It’s that time of year when fishing at Lake Mohave is starting to get really good!

George Terro and Justin Dooley of Bullhead City caught these beautiful largemouth and smallmouth bass in Sand Cove off of their kayak and float tube using football jigs with craw trailers.

Many people might not thinking of targeting carp while going out to fish but they put up a great fight which make them super fun to catch! Mohave is known to have an abundance of carp so if all else fails, bring some bread, add some garlic salt for extra appeal, and prepare for a battle because those carp don’t come in easy! I caught this carp in the marina using garlic salted bread.

As was reported last month, the striper bite has been slow but it’s FINALLY starting to pick up a bit! Nate Davies of Las Vegas caught this super healthy chunk of a striper at the Dam using a bladed jig. From here on out the striperfishing should just continue to get better and better.

Come on it to BHC Bait & Tackle (formerly Hillbilly’s Bait & Tackle) to get all the tackle and lures mentioned in this  fishing report. We are located at 1047 Highway 95, Bldg B1 in Bullhead City, behind Tokyo Garden sushi and O’Leary’s bar.
